Seahawks Secure Play-off Berth with Thrilling Extra Time Victory over Rams.

Decisive play in overtime

Tight end Eric Saubert executed the game-winning two-point conversion for Seattle.

The Seattle Seahawks engineered a stunning fightback to defeat the Rams in overtime, securing their place in the postseason.

Rallying from a 30-14 deficit in the fourth quarter, the Seahawks emerged victorious by a single point at home, registering their fifth straight win.

While the Los Angeles had become the first to earn a post-season berth earlier on game day, the Seahawks booked their return to the play-offs after a 24-month absence.

With this result, the Seahawks now lead their Conference race with a twelve and three record, supplanting the Rams, who fell to the fifth seed with an 11-4 record.

Action Recap

Quarterback Sam Darnold threw two picks but regrouped to make two touchdown passes, including the tying score to wideout Smith-Njigba in the extra period.

The Rams held a 13-7 lead at half-time before Kenneth Walker III broke free for a long scoring dash for the home side.

Los Angeles defensive back Josh Wallace then took back Darnold's initial interception for a big return, setting up a one-yard score by Blake Corum on the ensuing snap.

In the fourth quarter, a scoring pass from Matthew Stafford to Puka Nacua pushed the Rams' lead to 30-14, but Shaheed provided Seattle's hope with a spectacular punt return.

Darnold then connected with AJ Barner in the endzone, and a converted two-point play sent the game into overtime.

Although Nacua scored for his second TD in overtime, Jaxon Smith-Njigba responded in kind to set up the game-winning conversion.

  • Smith-Njigba finished with 96 receiving yards and the crucial score.
  • The 23-year-old now leads the league with 1,541 receiving yards for the campaign.
