This winter transfer market proves to be a time of intense rumour and possible big-money deals. A number of high-profile players are being linked with transfers away from their current teams. We examine some of the major figures who could be on the move this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' failure to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, which has left the forward in contention, it appears an important transfer is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker possesses a contract featuring a substantial release clause applicable for a short period in early January. Latest developments indicate Manchester City are now the frontrunners for his signature. Other suitors such as Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have turned their attention to other targets, leaving clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to make a late move.

Marc Guéhi

The England centre-back has excel for Palace despite a summer transfer to Anfield falling through. With his contract set to expire in the close season, January is the club's final opportunity to secure a transfer fee for their captain. Numerous top sides, such as City and multiple continental powerhouses including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to hold an interest. However, a January exit is considered unlikely, especially given the coach's reliance on the player.

Brennan Johnson

This Welsh winger has had starting minutes limited at Spurs this term. Although being the side's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, Johnson has begun only a small number of Premier League matches. Reports suggest the London club is willing to consider a transfer for the right price, believed to be in the region of forty million pounds. Bournemouth are currently at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also showing an interest.

R. Neves

This Portuguese midfielder might be set for a comeback to the Premier League following a spell in Saudi Arabia. Now only twenty-eight, and with his agreement ending in the summer, he represents a possible opportunity. Teams such as Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked with the former Wolves man. Furthermore, there have been rumours from Spain that he would be prepared to take a pay cut for a move to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced Germany shot-stopper finds himself as third-choice at Barcelona following new manager Flick. After fallen out of favour and had an operation, a January departure looks highly probable. Aston Villa were once mentioned as a potential suitor, but that option now appears unlikely. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly showing interest in the keeper.

I. Toney

The proven English striker has continued finding the net frequently in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League could enhance his dwindling hopes of making the national World Cup. K. Smit

This much-admired Netherlands teenage midfielder has drawn comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. Following starring at the Under-19 European Championship, Smit has broken into the AZ Alkmaar side. This teenager is widely expected to complete a big-money transfer in January.
