A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault caused the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Police arrested a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault near the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which police said was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
